Our Cradle to Cradle certified products

The Cradle to Cradle® (C2C) principle states that all materials and products within a production process belong to a continuous biological or technical cycle. In that sense, production components and the use of products should always focus on high quality and circularity. We discuss how this principle is applied within the building industry and at Reynaers Aluminium.

Cradle to Cradle® Certified Products Standard

The Cradle to Cradle® Certified Products Standard is a sustainable certification system that evaluates the circularity of materials and products, essentially resulting in a waste-free ecosystem. Its goal is to encourage innovation and the design of products that effectively and positively affect people and the environment.

The Cradle to Cradle® certificate is the global standard for products that are safe, circular and responsibly made. The sustainability label evaluates products across five categories of human and environmental health:

  • Material health – analysis of impacts of materials on a chemical level
  • Product circularity - assessment of the reuse or recycling potential
  • Clean air & climate protection - quantifying the emissions associated with the energy and carbon reduction
  • Water & soil stewardship - identifying local water issues and how to manage them
  • Social fairness - related to human rights and the development of a positive impact strategy

Each of the categories is assessed and awarded one of the four levels: bronze, silver, gold or platinum. The lowest score determines the final certification level.
