Automation Support Engineer - North America

To support our continued growth in North America, we are looking for a Automation Support Engineer who will play a key role in supporting our fabricator network in the United States (and occasionally in Canada and Mexico).

Location: United States (with travel across the US, Canada & Mexico)
(we have an office in Toronto (CA) and Charlotte (US), but you can also work from home)

 

What are we looking for?

As an Automation Support Engineer at Reynaers Aluminium, you play a key role in helping customers maximize the value of their automation and digital investments. You support customers both on-site and remotely by providing technical expertise, configuring machines and software, and advising on the most efficient production setups.

With a strong customer-first and commercially aware mindset, you identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, throughput, and process reliability. You work closely with local sales teams and the Industry 4.0 team at Reynaers Headquarters, ensuring customers are fully supported across machines, software, tooling, and workflows.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support customers in optimizing machine configurations, software settings, and production processes.
  • Advise customers on the most efficient machine setups and propose upgrades or complementary solutions that improve productivity and throughput.
  • Draw up technical proposals to support automation improvements and production efficiency.
  • Work closely with sales and Industry 4.0 teams to ensure customers are aware of Reynaers’ full portfolio of automation and digital solutions.
  • Configure machines and software on-site after completing comprehensive internal training.
  • Coordinate with external partners responsible for machine installation to ensure alignment across: machines, tooling, software, operators and workflows.
  • Deliver technical demonstrations and customer training, both on-site and remotely.
  • Provide after-sales support, including troubleshooting, follow-up visits, and remote assistance.
  • Respond to customer questions, issues, and complaints via phone, email, or site visits.
  • Use remote diagnostic tools to resolve issues where possible.
  • Document interventions, solutions, and feedback, and coordinate with Reynaers Headquarters to continuously improve support processes and solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements or equipment enhancements and support the sales team with technical input and justification.

Who are you?

Technical Background & Skills

  • Hands-on technical background with a strong interest in automation, machinery, and software, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with or interest in industrial automation, CNC machinery, or digital manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, or similar CAD tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Logikal is a strong advantage.
  • Comfortable working with both hardware and software in a production environment.

Language & Communication

  • Fluent in English (Spanish or French is a plus).

  • Strong customer-first attitude you are only satisfied when the customer is.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, with a mindset focused on continuous improvement.
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to spot upselling and value-adding opportunities.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with international teams.
  • Willing to spend time on-site with customers and travel as required.

Experience Level

  • Starters and early-career professionals are welcome, comprehensive training is provided.
